The Design
The design of this vacuum is quite elegant. It has a smooth shinny surface with plastic bumpers all round to protect your furniture when the robot bumps into them. On the top side of the robotic vacuum, there is only one button and a Eufy logo. When you press this button the robot automatically starts cleaning. However, the other buttons needed for operating the vacuum are on the remote control.
Operation
One of its strongest features that one immediately notices when using it for the first time; is its quite operation. This robotic vacuum has two working modes which are the max mode and low mode. When on the lower mode, it is extremely quiet and you can even fail to notice when it is working. On the max mode, the robotic vacuum is a little bit noisier but still quiet when compared to its peers. The max mode increases the suction power and speed of the brushes. This mode is very efficient in cleaning up stubborn dirt from the floor but it also drains the battery quite fast, as the battery can only last for about an hour as opposed to one and half hours on low mode.
Main Features
High Suction Power
The manufacturer states that this robotic vacuum produces a suction force of 1000pa in max mode. Although you may not have the adequate tools to measure the suction force, it is true that the vacuum has a very high suction force which is excellent for vacuuming all over the house and picking up all pet hairs. This high suction power combined with two side brushes rotating in counterclockwise motions plus a center rolling brush enables the vacuum to pick any grime, dust and crumbs that may be on your floors.
Four cleaning modes
You can choose to use either auto, spot, edge or small room cleaning modes. Each of these modes is suitable for different occasions and situations. The auto mode is for scheduled cleaning while spot mode can be used to clean a particular area on the floor with a concentration of dirt. Small room cleaning limits the vacuum to a relatively small space in the room while edge cleaning can be used for cleaning edges and corners on the floor. Also, the vacuum is equipped with drop sensing technology which prevents it from falling off stairs or on steep edges.
Automatic charging
The robotic vacuum is shipped together with a charging dock that should be placed in an open area. Once the vacuum has run low on battery, assuming it was on auto cleaning mode, it will immediately turn off the vacuum and head back to the charging dock. Once there, it will charge for a period of about 4-6 hours before the battery is fully charged. Thus, you don’t have to manually charge the vacuum at all times. It is also better to have it charging anytime that you are not using it so that the next time you need it, it will be fully charged and ready to go.
Long lasting battery
This robotic vacuum continuously cleans for about one and half hours before it runs low on battery. As compared to other robotic vacuums of similar quality and price range, this is very impressive. The long lasting battery life ensures that your floors are adequately cleaned at all times before the vacuum can head back to its charging dock. Nonetheless, when you use the robot on max mode the battery drains out faster. When operating in this mode, the suction force of the robot is higher and all the three brushes also spin faster offering more efficient cleaning. The only downside to it is that it drains the battery faster. The max mode would be suitable for spot cleaning as you clean up a small spot on the floor with accumulated dirt.
HEPA style filter and medium sized dustbin
The robot has a medium sized dustbin that doesn’t fill up very fast. When the robot is working on auto mode and probably cleaning your floors daily, you may need to empty the dustbin at least once a week. This is quite efficient and minimizes the attention that you have to pay to the robotic vacuum. The HEPA style filter fitted in the robot is suitable for cleaning pet fur as well as allergens.
Remote control
One of the things included in the package is a remote control which uses two AAA batteries. However, the batteries are not included in the shipment and thus, for starters, you will have to buy the batteries before using the remote. This remote has a number of buttons which are self-explanatory plus a small LED display at the top. This display indicates the time, and the time before the robot starts the scheduled cleaning. Using the remote you can easily schedule the robot to clean the floors even when you are away. You can also directionally control the robot using the remote. One thing to note is that the remote uses infrared signals and thus you have to point it at the robot for it to work.
Cons
The navigation system of the robotic vacuum is not very efficient. Probably the sensors are not accurate enough since the robot keeps bumping into furniture and gets trapped on electric cables. However, the vacuum does not have problems with large objects such as walls and sofas but will keep bumping into the legs of chairs. Notably, the vacuum has no problem going under chairs and the sofas to clean but it will have difficulties coming from beneath these items. It is therefore advisable to move all the items that the robot might get stuck under as well as electric cables before setting the robot to work. The vacuum also finds it difficult to locate its charging dock when not placed in an open location.
This robot also finds it quite challenging cleaning thick carpets on the floor. It is more suitable for cleaning all types of hard floors rather than carpeted floors with thick fabric. Thus, next time you set it to work it is better to have all thick carpets and rugs removed from the floor.
Conclusion
The RoboVac 11 doesn’t has as much suction force as the normal traditional vacuum machine, but still provides efficient cleaning. Furthermore, this robot operates very quietly thus making it very convenient to use even when you are in the house. It is worth every cent because it is efficient in vacuuming all kinds of dirt, including pet hairs which are its primary purpose.
